you might want to ask a blizzard GM, or other person in the know, if such a thing would be acceptable.
It wouldnt be very dificult to take such a decision making process to the next level by making it auto loop the process ence generate the best sequence of events during combat executed at computer speed as soon as they were ready and thats one hell of an advantage in you catch another player of guard.
Dont get me wrong , its a nice idea, but you should get a go ahead from someone at blizzard before you put time into something that might end up being classed as un acceptable
Good response Static.
It is fully acceptable as it is written in fully compatible lua and requires a hardware input. The fact that it requires a hardware input (pushing a key etc) is something they built in to stop the fully automated event driven scripting you mentioned in your post.
In fact many people use macros (the legal in game created kind) that do similar but much reduced functionality. For instance Sinister Strike until 5 combo points then Eviscerate, this is just a large extension of that.
Also any advantage is negated by the fact ones brain is capable of a lot more logic (well maybe not after 4 hours of grinding). But it did help me grind, semi watch tv and eat all at the same time, but I did drop half my sandwich on my lap when I got jumped
I dont play WoW atm, got boring, but theres probably a few shadows in Argent Dawn that wouldnt mind getting there hands on something like that.
One question tho.
Diferent actions will have cooldowns (which can be affected by talents), what happens if the optimal action to be carried out at the time you press the key hasnt cooled down yet ?
does it stall and wait, carries out the next best action thats ready or just skips the process entirely ?
PS - You were expecting a flame there werent you ?
Close, I saw you where on and was expecting a post with regards to you misunderstanding the addon and assuming it was a full automation, thus cheating. You did however read it fully and post logical and reasonable questions.
If the action/spell is still in cooldown then it is skipped and the next action/spell tested.
If it was a cheat you wouldnt have posted it here unless you wanted to get flamed to death so there was no reason to belive that.
You've always been a big fan of automating game functions within the boundries of any game youve played, at times more so then i would like but never to any degree that could be considered cheating.
If you can get the macro structure to work reliably for rogues (which might i point out use energy and not "rage" ) you might want to port the functionalety into the warrior class.
Cheers for the correction!
It already works 100% from what I can tell with that rogue setup, apart from eating I only used one button for 2 hours grinding. Also it is already open to all classes and lists all abilities/spells. Simtal has now posted his setup for Warlocks on the link in my first post
I am specifically looking for other classes to test it for me and advise what they need.
