I'm playing WoW
Or at least I will be soon. PCZone very kindly put a trial version on their coverdisk so I figured I'll load it up and see what all the fuss is about.
Got to say, it was pretty much as I expected at first, run around, get mission (sorry, quest), kill some stuff, get a reward, get next quest, kill some stuff, get reward, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.
But something strange happened, I found myself wanting to do the next quest. For a while I wondered why and then it occurred to me, there is actually a story here. It's not a question of getting missions to increase your stats and level so you can do bigger missions, you're following a story where the levelling is more of a byproduct of playing the game.
It's not going to be a Jumpgate for me, I must confess I have no problem turning it off after a couple of hours, but I do like it.
Not sure if I'll ever create a character on Argent Dawn (that's the FS server isn't it?), it's always seems to be full and I'd rather be playing than waiting to get on to a realm, but never say never.
At peak time i generaly log in and tab out, do something else while the queue is processed. Once your in it idles on the selection screen indefenetly.
WoW is a decent enough game to waste some time, no much long term appeal for me but its the only game were FS is semy active so i pop in from time to time to say hello and feed my pets.
Personally i prefer CoV but theres no FS presence on that one. Fast gameplay, excelent RP potential, dodgy on the story telling side.
Playing WoW atm too, if you go on argent dawn add these to the friends list:
I can usualy be found on one of them if im online
13 years agoYup, AD is worth it so you can gas with everyone on there.

WoW Shadow Master
13 years agoCome to AD mates
Well, I tried AD today amd managed to get straight on, so I've created a character called (can you guess?) Cptblood, a paladin.
Level 4 at present but I'll try to build him up as quickly as possible, assuming I can get on the server fairly quickly. My play time is very limited so I don't intend on hanging around waiting for a slot to become available.
Hope to see you all soon.
Paladins arent all that great tbh. Probably good once capped but a bit of a pain to level up.
Id go for a more solo friendly character type... since youll spend most of the time alone anyway in this game.
Those would be good choices from my point of view, but at the end of the day its all down to personal preference
And on a tangent... (you may want to stop reading here if your a WoW fanboy and/or easely offended )
I came back to WoW cos i wanted to see the old FS spirit only to find something that i had hoped never again to see... the Anarchy Online syndrome!
Talking on the guild channel just for the sake of conversation is all but non existent and interaction seems to be at an all time low. Lets not even touch on the "Item's" issue .
Next time i feel the urge to reactivate an online game ill go back to CoV. I may not be able to convince any other FS to join me there but at least i can have 6 Robots decimating anything in sight for me.
It didn't choose Paladin because I thought it would be easy, I chose it because I thought that's what Cpt_Blood would be. Although I've never really been into heavily into RP, I have been playing this character called Cpt_Blood ever since I started playing Jumpgate, so when I go into a new game I try to pick a class that suits him.
As for solo play, well the idea for creating a character on AD is so I can play with other FS members, so soloing shouldn't really be an issue. I normally play on the Wildhammer realm and I am currently trying out a warrior, mage and rogue.
As for interaction, I think I know here you are coming from there, but I think it's a lot to do with the style of play. In Jumpgate, you were often flying between gates and once you had aligned yourself up to the next gate and throttled up there was little to do until you reached it, so a perfect time for some idle chat. With practically every other game I've played, there hasn't been that window, unless you specifically make time for it. I know I'm often so busy fighting, checking out quests, trading, etc that I forget to look at the chat window.
"I chose it because I thought that's what Cpt_Blood would be"
A gimped warrior with fairly poor damage output that will be hated because he eventualy gets a free mount ?
Cant help but agree on the interaction front... but being distracted by current events in game should not realy affect forum interaction. And of that we have nil. No one ever talks anymore, this forum is going to waste with only a handfull of the usual suspects ever saying anything.
Being FS used to mean something... i just miss those days thats all
